Genetics, Health, and Society
OBA's Genetics, Health, and Society (GHS) program is responsible for policy analysis and coordination related to the development and use of genomic technologies and their implications for research, health care, public health, and society. Current projects include policy analysis and coordination of the governance of the Genetic Testing Registry (GTR) as well as activities associated with the National Institute of Health's Genome Wide Association Studies (GWAS) genomic data sharing policy. From 1999 until 2010, the GHS program managed the operations of the Secretary's Advisory Committee on Genetic Testing (SACGT) and its successor the Secretary's Advisory Committee on Genetics, Health, and Society (SACGHS). See links to the left for information about the GTR and GWAS policies as well as archival information on SACGT and SACGHS.
